Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission Approves $100,000

for Strongsville Old Town Hall

Columbus, Ohio The Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission approved $100,000 at its quarterly meeting yesterday for improvements to the Strongsville Old Town Hall.

The state funds will be used for interior and exterior improvements to the Old Town Hall, including foundation repair and drainage systems, exterior painting, roofing and gutter replacement, interior finish work and building system upgrades. The Strongsville Old Town Hall was built in 1879, and is a contributing building to the local historical district. The Old Town Hall functions today as a central meeting place for more than 15 community organizations, and is used by the Strongsville Historical Society for public programs and exhibits about local history. Funds committed by the City of Strongsville will combine with the state appropriation to complete the project, which is estimated at $400,000.

The Commission approval, coupled with the signing of legal agreements, allows the City of Strongsville to be reimbursed on a pro rata basis with funds appropriated in Am. Sub. H.B. 16 of the 126th General Assembly. Cuyahoga County General Assembly members who voted in favor of the bill include Senators C.J. Prentiss, Dale Miller, and Eric D. Fingerhut, and Representatives Kenneth E. Yuko, Lance T. Mason, Claudette J. Woodard, Shirley A. Smith, Annie L. Key, Michael DeBose, Michael Skindell, Michael Foley, Timothy DeGeeter, Sally Conway Kilbane, James Trakas, and Thomas F. Patton.
