Commission Members

The Commission consists of 12 members; nine voting and three non-voting.  The Governor appoints the nine voting members, and accordance with statute, these members are selected from various geographic areas of Ohio.  The current slate of gubernatorially-appointed members includes:

• George R. Oberer, Sr., Secretary-Treasurer, Dayton


• Adam K. Brandt, Columbus


• Otto M. Budig, Jr., Cincinnati

• Julie T. Kunkel, New Albany


• Harry J. Lehman, New Albany


• Cynthia B. Thompson, Toledo

The Commission also includes three non-voting, ex-officio members, including the director of the Ohio Arts Council plus two legislative members, one each appointed by the Senate President and House Speaker:

• Sen. David Goodman, appointed by the Senate President


• Rep. Shawn Webster, appointed by the Speaker of the House


• Julie S. Henahan, Executive Director of the Ohio Arts Council

Commission Staff

The Commission operates with a small team of specialists that provides the most efficient oversight possible for the diverse and complex projects that are assigned to it.  The staff includes professionals trained in architecture, landscape architecture and engineering, as well as financial, technical, communications and administrative professionals.  Kathleen M. Fox, FASLA, has served as executive director of the Commission since 1993.
