Serpent Mound, a National Historic Landmark, is the largest and finest serpent effigy in the United States.
An appropriation of $295,000 funded construction of a new picnic shelter, replacement of the museum roof and a structural evaluation of the observation tower. Another state appropriation of $340,000 funded improvements to the museum and other buildings including installation of a new furnace in the museum, making upgrades in the parking lot, replacing water and storm drainage lines, and upgrading the restrooms. Additional work is planned.
